Browse Skopje’s Old Bazaar, make a relaxed visit to Matka Canyon, wander Ohrid’s historic lanes and follow the lakeshore towards Saint Naum. Continue to Bitola for café-lined streets and the archaeological site of Heraclea Lyncestis before returning to Skopje Airport.

Independent self-drive: the suggested route is not escorted. Driving times are approximate and exclude sightseeing stops. Remain within North Macedonia; cross-border travel is not part of this itinerary.
Car hire: a weekly rental allowance accompanies six hotel nights. Final pickup and return times must match your flights and be confirmed with the supplier; an earlier return does not necessarily reduce a weekly rate. The displayed search dates are sample pricing dates, not fixed departures. Vehicle model is illustrative and the booked category may be supplied with a similar model.
Rental conditions: the supplier details show unlimited mileage and third-party liability. Collision Damage Waiver, theft cover, excess and deposit must be confirmed before booking; do not assume zero excess or full insurance. A valid licence, any required international permit and an accepted payment card in the main driver’s name are required under the supplier’s conditions. Check age limits and any local charges.
Hotels: meal plans, parking, room access and facilities vary. Old-town streets can be narrow or pedestrian-only. Check parking arrangements before arrival.
Seasonality: swimming, boating and outdoor activities depend on weather. Winter can bring snow and ice; check current road and equipment requirements and use the main roads. No seasonal mountain pass is required by the suggested route.
Departure: Day 7 involves a substantial drive from Bitola to Skopje Airport. Choose a suitably late flight or request a final-night change to Skopje. Prices depend on dates, room occupancy and availability.
